Join our team as the Museum Front Desk Attendent!
Position Type: Part-Time (hourly), 26-28 hours per week
Pay Rate: $14/hour (No benefits)

Position Overview
The Museum Front Desk Attendant serves as the welcoming face of the museum, providing a friendly and informative experience for visitors. Responsibilities include opening and closing the museum, greeting guests, answering questions, and managing gift shop and ticket sales.

Wednesday-Friday 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Saturday 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.
Location: Dekker Huis Museum (37 E Main Ave. Holland, MI, 49464)
Key Responsibilities
• Open and close the museum.
• Provide a warm and friendly welcome to all visitors.
• Offer information about exhibits, admission, events, and museum services.
• Respond to visitor inquiries in person, by phone, and by email.
• Process ticket, gift shop, and membership sales, including handling cash and card transactions.
• Distribute museum maps, brochures, and event materials.
• Maintain a clean, organized front desk area.
• Assist with visitor check-in for group tours, programs, and special events.
• Manage guest flow during busy periods to ensure a smooth experience.
• Report visitor concerns or operational issues to the Director.
• Coordinate and schedule docents for guided tours, while developing expertise in the museum’s exhibitions, history, and mission to effectively engage visitors and support docent training.
• Handle drop-in donations, rental inquiries, and research requests appropriately.
• Ensure that the museum’s public spaces are well-stocked and tidy.
Qualifications & Requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Friendly, approachable personality with excellent customer service skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to quickly learn museum information and provide accurate responses to visitors.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor.
• Comfortable handling basic transactions and using a point-of-sale system.
• Able to manage visitor interactions in a busy environment.
• Willingness to assist with administrative tasks as needed.
• Availability to work Wednesday through Saturday.
• Weekend or evening availability may be requested for special events.
Work Schedule
• Part-time (26-28 hours per week), Wednesday through Saturday, with occasional additional days or evening shifts as requested.
• Open to job share option for less hours per person.
