On Saturday, September 21, Wendy Batchelder, a historical interpreter and costumer from Grand Rapids, presented obsolete forms of communication dating back 100 years or more. The event took place at the New Groningen Schoolhouse on Paw Paw Drive in Zeeland.
Guests learned about charming Victorian customs that used flowers and fans to express sentiments, good tidings or regrets. Each guest took home a floral bouquet arranged by Debbie Albert.
The guests also enjoyed refreshments of chili, grapes, oranges, chocolate, ice cream and cookies, all served on vintage china. Cookies were furnished by Sharon Hendrickson.
Twenty-six people purchased tickets for this wonderful and informative presentation.
A big thank you, Ladies, for your work to make this a very successful event!
