It is with a heavy heart that we share with our readers the sad news of the passing of Suzy Frederick. Suzy played several prominent roles in the Zeeland Historical Society for many years.

Suzy served as the manager of the Dekker-Huis Museum until this past year. She spent countless hours curating our vast collection of artifacts, creating new exhibits, refurbishing and renovating the museum's three floors, answering visitors enquiries, scanning and archiving over 4,000 photos onto our website, coordinating our volunteers and so much more.

Suzy was the previous editor of our newsletter, the Timeline. She had an eye for detail and accuracy and was always looking for that next article that would promote Zeeland's history.

Suzy and her husband Tom were part of a team effort to reclaim and restore the New Groningen Schoolhouse. Together, Suzy and Tom did many maintenance projects around the museum.

Her energy, enthusiasm, determination, organization and ability to learn anything always amazed us. Suzy was also an avid painter of rocks that she placed around Zeeland and shared on the Zeeland Rocks! Facebook page. If your child was fortunate to find one of her rocks, they were blessed with a work of art and a piece of Suzy's heart. Suzy was a dedicated friend to many and will be sorely missed. Thank you, Suzy!
