Before we close for winter in mid-December, come and see the wonderful treasures we found in storage at the museum. Our winter hours are:
OPEN:
Saturdays 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
CLOSED:
THE "BOOMERANG" HOUSE
One of the items we found in storage was a scale model Veneklasen brick house.
The Christmas decorating team found the house buried in a box, broken and uncatalogued. For those reasons, we decided to donate it.
We dropped it off on a Tuesday at the local thrift shop. The museum's manager and her friend happened to stop by the thrift shop on Friday of the same week. Her friend discovered a scale model Veneklasen brick house and they agreed that it belonged at the museum :)
The scale model house is Veneklasen's Family Home, built in 1873 and remodeled in 1910. It is located at 10283 Chicago Drive, Zeeland, Michigan.
The house will remain at the museum!
